Country Dancing In Kalamazoo

We are a non-profit group in Kalamazoo Michigan, passionate about preserving the joy and excitement of the contra, square, and English dance traditions. We provide beginners' instruction and live music, and we welcome everyone!

Please take a moment to browse our website and learn more about the dances and our organization.

Special Notices:

WE'RE HOSTING A HOLIDAY CONCERT AT THE GRANGE COMING ON DECEMBER 12TH! The Indiana band, Soltre, will be playing for us from 3: to 5:15. (Check them out on Youtube) there's a suggested $5 donation, and masks, proof of vaccination, and ID will be required. There will be a one-time waiver to sign as well. You can find a copy in the documents.

We want to dance, but we have to wait until it's safe.  With the increase in COVID-Delta infections and the subsequent recommendations from both the CDC and MDHHS, we have decided to push back the opening of the 2021-2022 dance season to the March 12 Contra and English Weekend. This will be a dance weekend you won't want to miss. There will be English dancing from 3:00 to 5:30 in the afternoon, followed by a free beginner's class at 7:00, with contras and squares from 7:30 till 10:30. Sunday afternoon, March 13, we'll have an advanced contra dance from 3:00 to 5:30. Larry Unger, an internationally known composer of waltzes and contra music, and guitarist, will be playing, along with his musical partner, Audrey Knuth on violin. The music alone will be worth the wait!

Please understand that this situation is fluid. Check our Facebook Page, the AACTMAD site, or this website for the latest information on whether a particular dance will be held. If Southwest Michigan is still a "red zone' we will not dance. When it's safe again, we will welcome all who are fully vaccinated, and ID, proof of vaccination and signed waiver will be required.

CDK Dance. Music: Cosmic Otters.
